ARTISTIC HIGHLIGHTS
in the SUMMER DELIGHTS
Lawn chairs, picnics on the lawn and a visit from the ice cream truck! Our
SUMMER
SUMMER family-friendly outdoor concert series continued to introduce new audiences
to the Phil. This free series featured small ensembles and the Phil’s Cabaret
Orchestra at Laura’s Center of the Arts at the Emilson YMCA in Hanover in
the summer months of 2019.
LAURA’S CENTER
FOR THE ARTS UNDER THE STARS
AT EMILSON YMCA Over 700 South Shore music lovers attended the Phil’s first outdoor concert
atop the Trustees of Reservations’ spectacular World’s End property in
2017 SEASON Hingham on a beautiful evening on August 24, 2019. The concert featured
enchanting music, sweeping views and ocean breezes with pieces that
celebrated the beauty of music and nature, including Vivaldi’s The Four
Seasons, Mozart’s A Little Night Music, Puccini’s The Chrysanthemums,
and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3. Violinist Irina Muresanu, whose
performances have been frequently cited as among the Best of Classical
Music Performances by The Boston Globe, joined the Phil for this special
evening. This first-time collaboration with the Trustees of Reservations
introduced many new people to the Phil.

MOZART VS. SALIERI
In October, the Phil sparkled and soared to new musical heights on a
program featuring lifelong compositional rivals, Salieri and Mozart – with
a special guest trumpeter, Brandon Ridenour joining the orchestra for the
Hummel Trumpet Concerto. Audiences buzzed with excitement and energy
after taking in the orchestra’s bravado and the soloist’s flair, raising the
standard yet again for classical music on the South Shore.
MUSIC TO HEAL THE SOUL
The Sons of Serendip added Plymouth to their 2020 tour schedule on January
25, helping the Phil create the orchestra’s biggest fundraiser of the season.
100% of ticket sales directly benefited the orchestra. This unique and
dynamic quartet were finalists in America’s Got Talent. The audience was
treated to an uplifting concert and a meet-and-greet after party. The concert
was a winter highlight for our audience, and the Phil was fortunate to have
the annual fundraiser scheduled earlier in the year than usual.
