Performance highlights include music from Mary Poppins, which debuted 60 years ago this summer, as well as West Side Story and Pirates of the Caribbean. The concert also celebrates the centennial of American composer Henry Mancini with a medley featuring his much-loved melodies such as Baby Elephant Walk, The Pink Panther, The Days of Wine and Roses and the dramatic, heart-pounding theme for the television private eye, Peter Gunn. Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz is the concert’s guest narrator, reading excerpts from the Declaration of Independence accompanied by a lush symphonic score. Patriotic marches and Tchaikovsky’s fiery 1812 Overture round out the program.

The Phil performs a special concert as part of South Shore Conservatory’s summer concert series! Conductor Nick Palmer leads this rhapsody-filled concert, celebrating the juxtaposition of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, which turns 100 this year, with Freddie Mercury’s Bohemian Rhapsody. SSC Youth Orchestra takes the stage for a special side-by-side performance of Coleridge-Taylor’s The Bamboula, Rhapsodic Dance for Orchestra, conducted by Elijah Langille. Other works on the program include Liberty Fanfare, a triumphant tribute to Lady Liberty by iconic film composer John Williams, “Three Dance Variations” from Bernstein’s Fancy Free, featured in the movie Maestro, and Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, narrated by broadcast legend Ron Della Chiesa.

NOAH LEVINE is a New York-based magician who presents mind-bending demonstrations. He has performed live at Lincoln Center, the Rainbow Room, The Magic Castle and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, televised performances for the History Channel, and private demonstrations for Google, Netflix, Amazon, and the New York Yankees.
THE MUSICIANS A lively jazz quartet let by Phil principal bassist Kate Foss will entertain guests from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Music will include jazz standards and the Great American Songbook.
