“The Plymouth Philharmonic Scholarship kickstarted my musical journey and was the beginning of a series of events that would not have been possible otherwise. I used the scholarship to attend the Ithaca College Summer Music Academy the summer before my senior year of high school. I learned so much that summer, made life long friends, and later on had a job there for two years! I began my undergraduate studies at Ithaca College as a double major in performance and education but have since studied music at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang and I’m currently in my final year at UMass Boston. I have found that I not only have a passion for the double bass as a soloist but also the methods, techniques, and fingerings (whether brand new or old) that provide endless possibilities. In the fall of 2023, I won the UMass Boston jury prize for solo performance and also received the Tawa Music Scholarship. I will be forever grateful to the Plymouth Philharmonic – Thank You!”
