A season finale should leave you wanting more. So should the season opener. Our 108th season starts with a three-minute musical fireball and two heart-warming, heart-wrenching, hope-against-hope masterpieces that always leave us wanting more! The musicians’ choice: a suite from Romeo and Juliet, the centuries-old tale of feuding families and star-crossed lovers set to Prokofiev’s orchestral brilliance. The director’s choice: Ellis Island: The Dream of America, one of the most performed American classical works in the last 20 years. Period. It was nominated for a Grammy and turned into a PBS Great Performance. The dream unfolds as actors Marianne Leone and Ed Hoopman, accompanied by the orchestra, recount the true-life stories of seven immigrants from seven countries who passed through this iconic portal in search of something more. It’s powerful. Emotional. Perhaps even familiar. And best when shared and experienced LIVE!
