Plymouth Philharmonic Orchestra – Special 1 – 2024 Plymouth Phil April 9, 2024
Sense & Sensibility

The Phil is honored to participate in America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration. The weekend of festivities has become a beloved holiday occasion as well as an important link to our nation’s history and heritage.

We’re crossing the Atlantic for this year’s celebration and docking in merry old England. Composer and Plymouth Phil assistant conductor Neal Hampton ascends the podium with music he composed for the stage, a lush and romantic score for Sense and Sensibility. This musical adaptation of Jane Austen’s well-loved story has delighted audiences on both sides of the pond since its 2013 premiere. British composers rule the second half of our celebration, including the brilliant Ralph Vaughan Williams, whose exquisite Fantasia on Greensleeves totally eclipsed the familiar song that inspired it.
